First Lawsuit Filed in Sandusky PSU Scandal

The first civil suit stemming from allegations that former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abused young boys has been filed, and it was filed by a new accuser.

The first civil suit stemming from allegations that former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abused young boys has been filed, and it was filed by a new accuser.

The suit claims that the coach abused the petitioner more than 100 times. The abuse is alleged to have happened in a Penn State locker room, on trips to Philadelphia, on a trip to a college football bowl game, and at the Sandusky home.

The suit also names the university and The Second Mile charity as defendants. The victim said that he knew the coach through the at-risk children’s charity. The abuse allegedly occurred from 1992 to 1996. The man met Sandusky at age 10, according to the suit.

The man who filed the suit was not among those whose abuse was detailed in a recently opened grand jury report. The grand jury accused Sandusky of sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period. He acknowledges that he showered with boys, but denies molesting them.

PSU Grabs Porn Domains

Unrelated to the scandal, Penn State has taken steps to limit pornographers from capitalizing on the school’s name. The university has purchased a list of Internet domains that would carry the .xxx generic top-level domain.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which oversees the Internet’s naming system, approved the use of .xxx for pornographic websites in March.

The general public can’t buy .xxx domains until December 6, but colleges and other organizations were given an advance period to claim the domains. They’ve submitted more than 80,000 applications so far.

Penn State spokesman Jeffrey Hermann said that the university bought four .xxx domains in September: Penn State, PSU, Nittany Lions and The Pennsylvania State University. Hermann said that the action also prevents anyone from buying a domain incorporating the trademarked term with other words, such as nittanyliongirls.xxx.
